i cannot imagine this is possible.
could you reproduce with -ao oss ?
-ao sdl does untracable things, sdl is just magic...

no.
there is no difference procesisng data from file or stdin. stdin is just a
file with no seeking. i bet it's an sdl bug, or buffering issue.
