I can't speak for the majority of the source installed software, but
for the approximate 100 packages I have installed in my /usr/local and
/opt trees I've never requested localized stuff, so none has installed
localized stuff. I just hope, that mplayer behaves the same, I don't
request localized manpages, so I don't get localized manpages.

For me mplayer is the only software with this behaviour.

Yes, it is. In the end, you're the one with CVS access, it's your decision.
I can live with patching mplayer locally for myself, hope the rest of the users
can live with it too.
