You misunderstood me.  The patch I sent does just this.  In current
MPlayer, when you compile in the XviD codec, mencoder uses XviD's
compatibility API so DivX can not be used.  With my patch, you can
configure with --disable-xvid-encore (yes, it's a misnomer and should
be called --disable-xvid-compatibility-with-divx-encore-api) and have
both DivX and Xvid.
