Here are coming two patches!

x11_common.c2.diff -- this is the initial patch changed as Filip
suggested
x11_common.c3.diff -- this is the same as c2 + it extends -fstype

Now you can add a list of options, like:
-fstype fullscreen,above,-stays_on_top,below,layer=1

And you will get a nice message, reporting what you actually did:
[x11] Current fstype setting honours LAYER FULLSCREEN ABOVE BELOW X
atoms

Also this messages always get's displayed, not only when tweaking with
-fstype, so it should print the abilities of the detected wm too.
