A random thought: Has anyone investigated the feasibility of "mplayer" 
being used as a web browser plugin (e.g., for Mozilla), to allow movies to 
be embedded within a web page?

For example, QuickTime provides not only a player tool, but also a web 
browser plugin (from the same code base) that allows streaming movies (or 
movie files) to be embedded within web pages.  Now that "mplayer" also has 
the ability to stream movies (using RTSP/RTP), it should be possible, in 
principle, to modify it so that it can provide the same functionality for 
Linux web browsers.
