Hi again,

another patch. Using -menu badly drops performance, even when the menu
isn't showed: 

without -menu:
BENCHMARKn: disp: 972 (24.25 fps)  drop: 29 (2%)

with -menu:
BENCHMARKn: disp: 828 (20.65 fps)  drop: 173 (17%)

This patch cuts down the unneccessary things calculated when menu doesn't
show (things slow down only when menu showing). ok to commit ?
