Some answers you requested.
(Please note that I am brand new on this mailinglist and just starting to
look into the mplayer development at all.)

Well. SGI systems are big-endian, unlike Intell systems which are
little-endian. The error message seems quite clear to me: like there is no
support build for that in mplayer yet.
However more verbose output when starting mplayer with "mplayer -vo x11 -ao
null -v full_1227.mpg" are provided in the attached "debug.txt" file. I tried
switching with -bpp 8, 16, 24 and 32 but they gave the same results.

I am playing this on my SGI o2 r5000 with 128MB ram. I'm not in the lucky
position of owning a high-profile Octane r12k or something like that.
Donations are welcome though ;-)
But until then, this o2 is going to be available for mplayer development :-)

I don't understand the question.

I will look into this. Will report back on this later on when I have more
info.

I am now :-)

About that: I didn't find a direct link to the core development team, I
suppose they are all on this list and filter out the important updates?
And are there "not done" things on this list I should know about? I am brand
new here and just getting into this development stuff. But I'm quite the SGI
freak and as a DVD freak crazy about mplayer, and as a student technical
computer science AND a software engineer as profession, I realy enjoy hacking
away in this mountain of code :-)

Best regards,
