OK, that's a point.  In what regard where the packages broken?

No, he is under no obligation to provide support for his packages,
after all he does this for free in his spare time, as do we all.  A
friendly reminder not to complain about problems to mplayer-users
would not be a bad idea, though.  Dominik's packaging and support is
exemplary, but we cannot expect this of everybody.

AFAIK everybody just uses his packages.  They are quite good IMHO.  He
has MEncoder and the docs split off and offers 386, 686 and k6
optimization.  The fonts are also packaged.  I'm currently using the
font package and have tried the other packages in the past.  I'll give
them another test run.  I usually run the latest release packaged and
bleeding edge from source.
