[MPlayer-dev-eng] mencoder output to non-AVI formats

Hi team,
I'm finally getting requests about being able to transcode from
FILM -> general file format using Mencoder. Unfortunately, I must
discourage conversion of FILM -> AVI for technical reasons (FILM needs
variable frame rate, AVI only supports constant). I remember seeing "add
muxer api" on the TODO list. What's the status of this? I think it would
be useful to add QT support first. It can be difficult to test since QT
Player, which we would need to test against, has trouble handling the DivX
variants that MPlayer outputs (per my understanding, that had a lot to do
with why the Heroine Warriors discontinued Cinelerra). For testing a MOV
muxer, it would probably make sense to output to raw, uncompressed frames.
Can Mencoder do that?

(I've never actually tried to use Mencoder...:)

	Thanks...
