One encoding for a font is not enough (e.g. cp1250 and iso-8859-2 are in 
use for Polish language). In case there is no iconv, encoding tables 
could be in font.desc.

When iconv is lacking, locales (see: info libc locales) could be used to 
convert subtitle encoding to Unicode (when font.desc uses Unicode only).
