[MPlayer-dev-eng] converting interlaced DVDs with mencoder

Hi,

It seems that mencoder can't handle interlaced mpeg2 files
(vob/dvds) even if mplayer play the same vob / dvd without any
problem. The symptom is gazillons of "skip frame!!!" lines while
encoding.

I recall a message on this list or on mplayer-users@ from Arpi saying
that mencoder doesn't support interlaced mpegs yet.

Can you tell me :
- if someone is working on this or has it on his short-term todo list
- if the fix is small or is more like a large rewrite of mencoder to
use the "muxer" layer (*) or something like that
- in case I find some time to work on that, where to start :)
