No. It's just history :)
In the beginning...
... there was mpeg2dec, containing very simple libvo and libmpeg2.
Then mplayer and xine has born, both based on mpeg2dec, inherited and
modified its libvo (old libmpeg2 heavily dependend on it, used libvo structs
etc) and both project evolved a lot in time. we're talking about 2 years!
Everything changed, but the name of the lib...
