You have a point here.

I'm looking at this more from an end user perspective.  I don't care on 
which side it is implemented, I just don't want a screensaver to 
interrupt my movie.

Does anybody have contact to jwz?  Maybe he is willing to implement this 
in xscreensaver, but if I am not mistaken most other movie players do 
take care of this.
