[MPlayer-dev-eng] mp3 streaming

Hello everyone,
 
I am interested in streaming mp3 audio directly from mplayer, or at
least sending the audio to an mp3 streaming device perhaps.  I was
thinking this may be possible using the ALSA5 loopback device.  Could
anyone please tell me if this is supported in mplayer and/or such a
project has been attempted to any ones knowledge?
 
Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers.
