[MPlayer-dev-eng] writing to stdout

Dear A'rpi and Mplayer team,

I have two questions;

1. Is there any way of writing mp3 encoded audio to stdout?
2. What does ao_mpegpes achieve as far as I can tell it calls vo_mpegpes
and writes to a file?
