Right. I once wanted to start reimplementing it, and the whole thing
was being discussed until Arpi finally said that it would be ok
to put it under the GPL and that it is different to the code that
was first released under the DivX Open license.
So I didnt take a closer look at it.

Right now I am still volunteering to take a look at it but I have
less time. First I am going on a vacation and then I am starting
to study physics so I don't know how much time I will have left
(maybe plenty but I cant predict it). And i cant promise that I 
am able to reimplemnt it if I am given enough time but I would
be happy to contribute to mplayer. So if you have plenty time I
will give it a try.
