I have an Athlon 1600+, WinTV card (Bt848), 512MB RAM, U160 SCSI drives,
motherboard sound (es1371) and OSS drivers, running kernel 2.4.19-pre5.  
I've tried every mencoder command posted in this thread in the last few
days, and allof them have the same problem -- I *immediately* start
getting a huge number of "too bad - audio frame dropped" messages. 

I am capturing in NTSC mode (29.97 fps) from the composite input, at
352x240.  In watching the progress bar, it looks like mencoder is only
hitting about 27 fps, which is probably why it's dropping things.  What am
I doing wrong?  I've tried using pcm and mp3lame as audio out codecs, but
it doesn't make any difference.
