i am useing the -pp switch for it at the moment but iam not sure if this is 
the best way
256 for the Luminance RK_Filter
512 for the Luminance X1_Filter
and <<4 for the chrominance counterparts
the tricky bit is that the pp thing doesnt accept anything >63 ... hi arpi or 
whoever is limiting it can u fix that?
