(sorry for not responding sooner, I'm not on the list (forgot to mention
that) and I didn't check the achives until now)

So how do mplayer accept keyboardinput when it's standard input is
connected to a named pipe? remember that this is using -vo mga in console
so I have no window that can accept the keyboard input.

The answer is that it can't when using it like this.

If I use my patch and specify the named pipe as a filename I still have
stdin so mplayer can accept keyboardinput

I hope you see the sense in this. Otherwise I still have the patch for my
own use :)
