[Mplayer-dev-eng] gcc 3.0 and --cc flag

Hi guys

I just installed the Debian package of gcc-3.0, and I thought I would try
to build mplayer with it. The --cc flag to configure looked interesting,
but when I use it with the argument 'gcc-3.0' (which is what gcc 3.0 is
named on Debian) I get this output:

You can get detailed help on configure with: ./configure --help
Please wait while ./configure discovers your software and hardware environment!
Checking version of gcc ... 2.95.4, ok
dpkg: warning, architecture `i386-none' not in remapping table
GL includes not found!
Checking assembler (as) ... 2.11.90.0.7, ok
Checking Linux kernel version ... 2.4.5-ac15, ok

Notice that it finds gcc 2.95.4, which is the version that is used when
plain 'gcc' is called. Why doesn't it use gcc-3.0 as I specified? Also,
what does that 'dpkg' warning message do there?

Just to clarify, this is the version of gcc that I have installed:

$ gcc --version
2.95.4

$ gcc-3.0 --version
3.0
--
