[MPlayer-cygwin] codecs.conf

To be more direct, what I'm actually trying to do is to try and coax
mplayer to properly play ATI VCR files recorded via the ATI Multimedia
TV Recorder.
I suspect ATI is using the ATIDVCR.DLL file (which I found in my ATI
program files folder) as the codec, and I'm trying to see if I can make
it work.
In all the attempts I have made so far to play .VCR files, it seems
MPLAYER is not playing the video correctly. Only audio works.

This is in the FAQ...
Throw away codecs.conf. It is a developer-only thing and can cause you
big trouble.
