[MPlayer-cygwin] colorkey=000012 by default?

a user came into #mplayer with a question...

[11:28] <ekkaia> im using mplayer to play videos in windows xp, it plays fine,
but there's always a green screen or green flicker before playing any video --
is there a way to remove that green screen or make it black ?

-colorkey 000012 seems to do this (and not make all black text in programs turn
other movie colors), is there any reason that this is not default or the config?
