Your wish is my command ;-)

First off, you should also add some documentation for this, i.e. patch
the man page.

Adding an option for this is very ugly IMHO.  Since it is directx
specific you should implement it as a suboption of vo_directx, i.e. it
should be called as "-vo directx:adapter=2"
