No, back in the day, libmpdvdkit did carry some patches on top of
libdvdread, to the best of my knowledge they have all been integrated
upstream.  There have been discussions about dropping libmpdvdkit
altogether, but nothing conclusive has come out of this yet.

So yes, I would suggest you just use an external libdvdread in that
case.

But why do you wish to drop support for CSS in the first place?
