-novm does not help, but you are right it was already like this before, only 
hidden by the other side effects. However I tryed to play a file with a build 
from the Dez 8.  on windows and it segfaulted in flip_page(). I did not 
investigate further because this problem is also gone with your patch.
Therefore I'm for commiting it asap.
