[MPlayer-cygwin] VobSubs not displayed under MinGW

Hi
I have a avi file that came together with a *.sub and *.idx (no *.ifo!).
Examining the files, documentation and manpage I found out that it is a
VobSub subtitle. Under Linux I managed to get the subtitles displayed by
renaming the .sub and .idx so that they match the name of the avi file,
starting the file and switching from "Subtitles: (0) none" to the english
subtitles using key "j" (Subtitles: (1) en). Alternativ "mplayer
movi.avi -vobsubid 1" starts displaying the english subtitles from start on.
Same goes for the cygwin-port of mplayer.
Under MinGW however I could not display the subtitles. I could not do it as
discribed above. Furthermore no combination of "-vobsub movi", "vobsubid 1",
"-slang en" and "sid 1" or parts of it worked.
Here is some output of the tests i ran:

Despite of often being able to choose a subtitle language by pressing the
"j" no subtitle was actually displayed. I checked that subtitles were
enabled, fonts were loaded and osd is working, and i tryed different
positions for the subtitles.
What can be the reason for this strange behaviour? The fact that Subtitle 0
is unknown?
the idx-file says:
...
# Language index in use
langidx: 0

# English
id: en, index: 1
# Decomment next line to activate alternative name in DirectVobSub / Windows
Media Player 6.x
# alt: English
...

Is it because the ifo-file is missing. Though documentation states that the
ifo-file is optional, error messages prove that sometimes mplayer tryed to
open it. (see e.g. test4).

Linux output looks like this:

I am using MPlayer 1.0 pre1 and CVS updated last time on 15th of August.
Pentium III, MinGW-3.0.0-rc4.exe, MSYS-1.0.9.exe
Anybody wants to look into this?
