[MPlayer-cygwin] mplayer postprocessing makes things worse instead of better?

hi,

i tried the latest release for windows 1.0pre3 and found it crashes when
trying to enable -vop pp=hb:a/vb:a

So I went back to 1.0pre2 and that works
However i was quite surprised to see that turning on postprocessing makes
things worse!
If you turn up the brightness of your monitor a lot and play a movie with
for example
-vop pp -autoq 6 or with -vop pp=hb:a/vb:a then watch the black dark areas
carefully
you'll notice that there are serious artifacts in those black areas. Without
postprocessing
they are perfectly black!

btw about my test movie ( i noticed it on others as well, so its not a movie
issue)
MPlayer dev-CVS-031005-16:56 (C) 2000-2003 MPlayer Team

as said this is tested with the mingw release 1.0pre2 and not under linux.
Is this an mplayer bug, or a mingw compilation bug?

Best Regards & Merry XMAS

Frodo
