hmm, i upgraded to MPlayer dev-CVS-030816-12:54-3.2.3 (C) 2000-2003 MPlayer Team
From:  http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/win32-beta/mingw32-dev-CVS-030824.zip
but still no faad ;\ or is that qdesign music 2?

i also tried the cygwin port from http://joey.nicewarrior.org/cygmp/mplayer-20030731-r1.exe
but i got an error about the stupid cygwin1.dll thing having more than one version on my pc again
