  Of course such a discussion should be on -dev-eng. But I don't see the
point in opening one, because Reimar did the work already and it is very
convenient the way it is. At the next time an update is due, the developer
noticing it will either take the time and synch the in-tree copy or write
a mail to -dev-eng. I also value the extra review from Reimar (thanks
for your work, Reimar)!

  If you still think this should be tackled now, then please go right
ahead and reopen this discussion properly on -dev-eng.
