I forgot to say: I think it would be quite easy to make glob() just
return the file name it got as fallback, thus mf:// would at least work when not
using wildcards everywhere.
If you think that would be nicer?
I think there's not that much of a hurry for reverting it if we can
agree on a nicer solution.
