Yes.

All files on the command line (and all contents of -playlist) are being
transferred into the GUI playlist. The playtree is freed then. (Well,
actually during playback there will be a temporarily created single file
playtree again for the GUI file to play, but this is another story.)

I haven't found any problems related to this so far.
