This concludes my quest to get rid of extern variable declarations in
.c files, barring the two patches I have pending on dev-eng.

There is one last extern declaration:

input/ar.c:extern const double NSAppKitVersionNumber;

I have no idea how to avoid this one.  Suggestions welcome.
