Could we discuss this again more seriously?
Since I believe our daily snapshot are very useful releases for people who don't
like svn (for whatever reason), I believe it makes sense not to break
compilation with make distclean;./configure && make on "typical" systems.

Reimar, do you have an opinion on this?
