Isn't it "by whom?" or has that word died out in the English language?
I consider it more readable and I said so.
Consistency could be a good argument against it, but only as soon as
there is consistency and not a mess of VO_*, (>= 0 = OK, < 0 = ERROR ) and
(0 = OK, everything else = ERROR).
