I think that this is indeed a positive sideeffect of making the lavf
Matroska demuxer the default.  However, I don't think it should be the
default in the next release as long as there are regressions.

Now it seems you have a few points on your to-do list.  I suggest you
run over that list, then you can make the lavf demuxer default again and
harvest the next round of regressions.  Hopefully the lavf demuxer will
be in optimal shape soon then so that we can enable it for the next
release.
