In contrast to the documentation there is no rule about this, so this
can not be against the rules.
Either way I am quite fed up with the rules discussion. Those rules,
while sometimes more and sometimes less enforced were certainly never
meant to be some kind of holy grail.
Those rules are just a collection of things that were considered to make
things work well. Honestly, I prefer if you work on something else
instead of updating the documentation, though fact is that features that
are not documented will not be used much and generally be a bit of a
pain.
And copy-and-pasting a license header should just be few seconds, too,
if you remember it.
So just consider doing it (occasionally) just to please others (I am
talking to everyone here, not just you), you know, in the "small
presents nourish a friendship" style... Even if you consider it idiotic,
I am certain each of you does a whole lot of rather idiotic things each
day - I sure do.
