ffmpeg compiles fine and passes the regression tests if i add

-std=c99 -fasm -D_BSD_SOURCE -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE=200112L

And i think it wont be disputed (except by uoti) that this enables less
than -std=gnu99 does.
