Complex solutions tend to be too complex to find problems in them thus we
belive they are supperior to simple solutions :)
Simple example: take a box, throw, time, space and matter in there and shake
and out comes mplayer, the earth and the rest of the universe and all other
possible allowed arangements of all matter, time and space.
This is simple, of course you can do it the hard way and sit down and code
as well ... ;)

yes but we do not only need more people to code but also more people to
review code.
A criterium to accept new developers might be
Write 5 good patches and write 5 good reviews
An alternative would be: give everyone commit access, and wait 3 years
at that point people will have gained enough experience and realized why
various things are bad. And mplayer should become useable again :)
anyway, back to topic (i think thatwas the topic) ... yes iam in favor of
a real official mplayer leader/maintainer (like reimar)

Breaking DRM is a little like attempting to break through a door even
though the window is wide open and the only thing in the house is a bunch
of things you dont want and which you would get tomorrow for free anyway
