Nope, no altivec, but some sort of SIMD processing if I recall right.
Anyway, it doesn't really matter: blue gene cabinets aren't supposed
to have a graphic monitor hooked in to watch videos, so....

Off course, I was kidding: no news entry.... though somehow I'd enjoy
putting in the changelog 'blue gene support'... I know it's silly, but
it's like an iPod, it's cool ;-)
