I'm sure it's possible to do the build the same way I do with RPM:
./configure --enable-gui ... ; make ; mv mplayer gmplayer ; make clean
./configure ...
and then package mplayer-gui and mplayer separately. They can even
be installed at the same time without conflicts. ;)
