Here:

  In order to preserve history and minimize the size of diffs

So I just replaced "svn diff" with the more general "diffs" because
diffs can be generated in different ways, not just by Subversion.  Were
you referring to the diffs appearing on -cvslog?  Then we should make
this more explicit.
