Yes, we need some kind of backup.  If memory serves me right Arpi once
said there is no backup apart from the RAID the disks reside upon.  But
please don't take my word for this until Arpi confirms it, I may very
well remember this wrongly.

Unless someone with a shell on mphq (Michael, do you have a shell?)
beats me to it, I could set something like this up.  Depending on the
size of the repositories this could generate quite a bit of traffic,
though so maybe rsync would be better.
