Sounds like overkill, actually, but that doesn't mean something along
those lines wouldn't be a good idea.
Let's take a step back and examine this more closely. Is there any
circumstance under which the non-autodetected --enable options provide
any actual functionality - that is, any case in which autodetection
would fail but compilation would succeed regardless? If not, then yes,
the suggestion above sounds good. If so, then I think something less
severe would be better.
