And I though HP-UX was the master of incompatibility (ok, their implementation will always grep through binary files).

I do not have solaris, I just wanted to say that I can't believe that with solaris you can use grep only to search for text and nothing else. That
sounds very stupid to me...
Not to mention that I don't want to know how often their text-autodetection fails...
