Then how about changing the message to:

PCM: Info:
Fastest dumping is achieved with -vc dummy -vo null, however not all
demuxers support that, so please use -vc null -vo null if you want
to be safe.

Alternativly fixing the intolerant demuxers would be the other option. :-)
