In fact Michael forwarded him my question some time ago, this was his
reply:

  This filter aims reposition & resize the stereoscopics image from
  the format where two stereo fields are above each to the format
  where the image fields are placed side by side. In the same stage
  the image is resized so the image ratio remains the same (for above
  fields usually the image is 2:1 as the image is scandoubled in this
  case)

  It takes one optional parametr to select how many lines from the
  middle of the image (used for vertial blanking should be removed) -
  If I remmember this right the common value is 12 (but I'm not sure
  about this.)

  (the missing part is how the resize should be made eventually left
  for the next scale filter - but somehow I've failed to be able to
  use it that way - thus that's why scale is done at the same step)

  Ok - is this enough or do you need more text ?

Hmm, I'm afraid I do not completely understand this. I would create
the following man page entry:

down3dright[=lines]
  Reposition and resize stereoscopic images. Extracts both stereo
  fields and places them side by side, resizing them to maintain the
  original movie aspect.
    lines: number of lines to select from the middle of the image
    (default: 12)

Is this correct? Rich, could you come up with a better description?

What about this:

yvu9
  Forces software YVU9 to YV12 colorspace conversion. Deprecated in
  favor of the software scaler.

hqdn3d[=luma:chroma:time]
  High precision/quality version of the denoise3d filter.
  Parameters and usage are the same.

OK?

BTW, was the fate of lavcdeint decided? Will it be removed?
