Attached. Copied out right from the mailbox. Anyway this thread was
forwarded to our inner list a year ago, so every core developer can prove
me. (and you can find Marillat's answer in the beginning of the debian-devel
thread)

I'd like to believe this.

You know users will never associate! :(
The text was there by reason..

Yes, removing repetative lines are good, but we _really have_ to bash this very
limitation into their brains on every opportunity!

Yes that's good idea. However please try to think as an r=1 debian user.
(you never compiled from source, you believe automake is great, you believe
RMS is a god, you are comforted by apt-get in every moment)
P.s.: if anyone finds this offending to himself, mail to devnull

=2E..
Reasons: Law =

=
=20
MPlayer describes the sourcecode. It contains several files with =
=20
incompatible licenses especially on the redistribution clauses. As sourc=
e =20
files, they are allowed to coexist in a same project. =
=20
=
=20
Therefore, NEITHER BINARIES NOR BINARY PACKAGES OF MPlayer ARE ALLOWED T=
O =20
EXIST SINCE SUCH OBJECTS BREAK LICENSES. PEOPLE WHO DISTRIBUTE SUCH BINA=
RY =20
PACKAGES ARE DOING ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES. =
=20
So if you know somebody who maintains a binary package then forward =
=20
her/him this text and (ask him to) contact us. What (s)he is doing is =
=20
illegal and IT IS NO LONGER MPlayer, but his/her mplayer. If it breaks, =
it =20
is his/her fault. Don't come and cry on the MPlayer mailing lists, you =

will most likely be blacklisted. =
=20

Cease distributing MPlayer binaries or rename them, responsibility is
all yours.
