totally agree.

i've just downloaded libfaad2 v2.0rc1 release tarball (after finding
the project on the net, since not being listed in freshmeat...), and:
- the tarball was created inside the source tree, so extracting it as
  usual will trash your /usr/src (create many files and subdirs
  where you ran tar -xcf ...).
- it doesn't even include the generated ./configure script, just the
  autoshit source files, which (surprise!) doesn't "compile" with
  not-the-latest autotools. (dunno if latest works)
- it includes many useless files, including various win32 plugin
  sources (in the tarball targetted to unix systems), visual studio
  project files (big shit), id3 editor and many unrelated stuff.
- the actual code (few files from libfaad/ subdir) we're interested
  in is <1MB

so, anyone _against_ including it in mplayer 'main' cvs?
