Errm, this is nonsense as long as -fomit-frame-pointer is in the
CFLAGS, no? It just makes the binary big and bloated, but it's still
not tracable. Personally, I already have a >300 char commandline I
give configure, and I imagine many others have something similar, so
for those of us who benefit from -g it's not hard to just add
--enable-debug...

BTW, it seems at least some files were already being compiled with -g
even before this change -- I see -g showing up much later in the
command lines than the main CFLAGS. Lemme know if you want and I'll
send a real bugreport.
