That title is highly misleading.

We have

# 1. Introduction

    * 1.1 Overview
    * 1.2 History
    * 1.3 Installation / Hints
    * 1.4 What about the GUI?
    * 1.5 Subtitles and OSD

1.3, 1.4, 1.5 are all about different parts of the installation
process and are no kind of introduction.  Thus explaining in 1.6 how
to set up RTC when we explain how to set up the GUI and OSD in 1.4 and
1.5 does not sound completely unreasonable to me.

IMHO the FAQ should not be the place to explain things, but to extract
information from the main docs in an easy to use format.  So RTC
should be explained in the docs somewhere.

Maybe.  I must admit I don't notice much of a difference.  Are the
advantages of using RTC big?
